King gizzard played a song from a new album before playing anything off of The Silver Cord live. It’s probably going to be a blues album from the sound of it. It’s only been about 8 months since they’ve released their last album.

You might consider giving a listen to an artist aren called out last year as an amazing musician and storyteller. Ren recommended Dirt Miller and especially his song Kansas City. You’ll know why I suggest this when you hear it.

My understanding is that they only had the pub to record in for two hours.

damn we have really similar music taste.. and you're pointing out a lot of the things i love about this album. gojira and BTBAM are two of my favorite matal bands along with meshuggah and imperial triumphant, and a ton of others i can't come up with off the top of my head but i'm a massive proghead from classic rock to modern metal and whatever the fuck king gizzard is

Look when it comes to jambands, there's a lot more variety than you think. There's more than phish and the dead. There's gizz, theres umphree's mcGee who also does metal jams There are great bands like dopapod and aqueous that get heavy too.. there's so much to dig into

Yeah Alien Weaponry are from New Zealand and a lot of their songs are sung in the Māori language. Māori people are Polynesian, same as Native Hawaiians. Another good one is Shepherds Reign - Le Manu, they are also from New Zealand, but I believe they are Samoan. Yeah my handle is pronounced "Krigs-Gal-Dir" I got it from a song by a band called Heilung who do Norse experimental folk. a cool song of theirs is called Hakkerskaldyr, which coincidentally mixes the Māori ceremonial dance Haka with more Norse like themes and language. Also Tangaroa is the Māori god of the ocean.

Check out their track Sugar/Tzu. Black Midi are incredible.

Just think of this album as a synth dream pop version of nonagon infinity. Where each track builds on eachother and leads very well into the next track.

Think of Butterfly 3000 as a sequel album to Polygondwanaland disguised as a chill record. It's very prog-heavy and filled with polyrhythms. Also, like Poly, you get a much greater appreciation when you listen to the whole album rather than single tracks as it's greater than the sum of its parts.

Shanghai live Remlinger or Chicago would be cool. Hope yer head gets right soon, welcome back.

Glad you're back and recovering! Keep in mind that this album was made mostly online. Lots of synths and midi plugged into ableton. The next song is a masterclass in songwriting imho, from the structure of the melody to the fact that Stu can sing and play simultaneously in different time signatures (watch Shanghai live). This album is full of polyrhythms and meter changes. The next track starts in 19/8 or some other crazy time signature. Despite the weird time signatures some tracks don't even have actual drums or bass, since Australia went into in strict lockdowns so the band couldn't get their studio setups (plus, they moved the gizz headquarters between lockdowns, and had to remodel and let the police raid the place because the previous owner went to jail for drug and arms trafficking lmao).

It only took you 3 pauses and 2 minutes to count the band members. Who gives a shit? A truly lame reaction, worthy of a metalhead

This album is great. Some pop stuff, some crazy stuff. Each song is built off of a melody line from a sequencer that doesn’t fit the time signature. Maybe it’s 9 beats in the melody but the song is 4/4. I think it makes the songs have a polyrhythmic feel. Shanghai is by far the most obvious example so I’m curious if you’ll notice it while you “experience” the visual

Glad to see you back, and hope everything goes well with recovery. I really missed watching your VIDEOS. Butterfly 3000 is an awesome album, but it has a few songs in which I'm not a big fan. Some of the tracks that I didn't initially like have grown on me, and I can appreciate them for their creativity and instrumentation. Some of these songs are incredibly good. I'm sure you'll like some a lot, and some not so much, but that's King Gizzard for you. 🤘🐊

I gotta be honest ive checked almost every proper reaction video that has been made to this song and you my friend are the first that didn't COMPLETELY glaze kim and the band and the this and that. So ill give you credit for being the first to be objective and call out Any flaws you seen/heard. Im not saying i agree but the fact you had an original opinion and didnt blindly glaze is commendable.

The first song that got me into Ghost. Still a favourite song. Very simple and basic. Would love to hear it with better production. They've come a long way from this.

This album is pretty dreampop-ish, but there's a lot of polyrhythms and stuff going on if you feel like something's off kilter. I like to compare this album to rat's nest, in relation to petrodragonic with this album and silver cord.
